The City of Athens encourages all residential property to install and maintained workable condition smoke alarms

You may request a smoke alarm if you meet the following conditions:

• You do not already have working smoke alarms or hardwired alarms in your home.
• You reside on the property for which you are requesting alarms.
• The home is not new construction (new residential construction is ineligible for the program).

Your free smoke alarm(s) will be installed by appointment only when an adult is present. City of Athens Fire Fighters will arrive at your residence in uniform and will be in a marked fire department vehicle.
