Pursuant to Athens Municipal Code Section 11, Chapter 4, Offenses Against the Peace and Quiet, unreasonably loud, disturbing, and unnecessary noise is prohibited within the City limits; however, the City Manager is authorized to permit noncommercial and nonprofit use of loudspeakers or amplifiers under certain terms and conditions.
Application Procedures
- Obtain Loudspeaker Permit form from City Manager’s Office, 815 North Jackson Street, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or click here to download form.
- Fill out and return completed form to the City Manager’s Office, 815 North Jackson Street, Athens, TN 37303. Form must be submitted no less than ten (10) calendar days prior to the event.
- If approved by the City Manager, the applicant will be notified to pick up his/her permit in the City Manager's Office.
